A characteristic image by this important Mexican artist, a member of the circle of Frieda Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Under the influence of the French painter, Marc Chagall, whom he met, Reyes (1882-1977) repeated the image of the horse throughout his career, but few are precisely dated and so surely by his hand. This work was in his first U. S. exhibition, securely linking it to his hand.
