One of the finest female photographers of the 20th century, Lange made two trips to the Southeast while working for the Farm Security Administration (FSA). This is a rare, imposing image, probably from her series on the characters who make up a small town. The print is by the FSA (Farm Security Administration) and carries it's stamp on the verso. It is believed to have been made before 1942.
