RICHARD POUSETTE-DART

Photographs by the American abstract painter Pousette-Dart are rare. All are unique, as the artist destroyed his negatives after a single print was successfully completed. He compared the medium to drawing and wanted each work to be unique in the same way. His photographs were almost unknown until his death in 1992. Most are in major museum collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, San Francisco MoMA and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Parsons was the first commercial gallery owner to exhibit Jackson Pollock. An artist in her own right, she was maintained a successful gallery in Manhatten for nearly 20 years. Her papers are in the Smithsonian Institute.

This is a great and unique work of art.
